Like those wines, it should prosper if accompanied by a hanger steak. "Competition / Event: 2010 Wine Enthusiast - 3

Suggested fare includes Salisbury steak or puttanesca. "Competition / Event: 2008 Wine Press Northwest - 1

Award: OutstandingReview: " The estate Roza Hills Vineyard provides the fruit for this youthful blend Cab Sauv (52%) and Merlot (48%) that's easy to like. An inviting nose of gentle oak, raspberries, cordial cherries and seriveberries leads to a subtle richness on the palate that grows. It is juicy blackberries throughout, joined by some black tea and warm tannins. There's some youthfulness to this that should be terrific with sirloin or an oily fish such as salmon. Award: RecommendedReview: " Roza Hills Vineyard, on of the largest parcels in the Yakima Valley, yields aromas and flavors of red currants, Bing cherries, stewed plums, rose hips, cedar and hoisin sauce. The finish of blueberry acidity and elevated tannins should have fans of Vietnamese food consider pairing this with braised ribs or barbecued pork. "Competition / Event: 2011 Wine Press Northwest - 2

Rating: 86Review: " Fresh and varietal, this brings focused scents of berry and bramble, with some tobacco highlights. It's soft to the midpalate, showing black cherry and red licorice components, then turns astringent and tannic through the finish. "Competition / Event: 2010 Wine Enthusiast - 3

Rating: 85Review: " simple and straight forward, with a deep purple/plum tone that belies the rather light flavors. This shows tart blak cherrty fruit with herbal highlights. Tannins have been rough-sanded but are still on the noticeably green and astringent side. A good, everyday steak wine. "Competition / Event: 2010 Wine Enthusiast - 3

Complexity makes this easy to talk about and enjoy, starting with a fruit-filled nose of cranberries, plums and blackberries joined by black tea, milk chocolate and a savory gamy category. Rich black fruit, namely blackberries and serviceberry, is joined by manuka honey notes in the midpalate before the tannins step in. Enjoy with a charred T-bone. The Flavors again center on orchard fruit with some light apple and citrus in the middle of some nice viscosity that's washed away clean by the acidity and drying bitterness at the end. If you like those, you should love this release, which also features aromatics of pear, petrol, minerality and rose water. There's a fair bit of residual sugar (2.7%) but it's well-balanced with flavors of oranges, cake with orange frosting and a finish of Schweppes ginger ale. Serve with grilled Chicken. Cask Merlot Back to Top

There's a flourish of blueberry and huckleberry on the midpalate with gritty tannins and more coocoa in the finish. "Competition / Event: 2011 Wine Press Northwest - 2
Rating: 85Review: " Reliable as usual, this soft, cherry and vanilla-flavored Merlot is pure varietal, fruity and ready to drink immediately. The tannins are extremely light, though a hint of green wood sneaks into the finish. Don't look for depth, but for a drink-now, perfectly pleasant quaffer, this is a good bet. Review: " Bill Ammons continues to roll out value after value, and he's built this in late harvest style beacause the residual sugar settled in at 5.5%. Aromas include freshly segmented tangerine and apricot, and there's delicious sweetness on the palate with sugared Texas pink grapefruit, balanced by acidity and mineralty and capped by jasmine "Competition / Event: 2011 Wine Press Northwest - 2

Review: " Sweet. Creamy-Seeming scents of clover and honey are sweet and dessert-like. On the palate sweet honey and candied pineapple flavors are forward and lush. Accents of orange marmalade and a touch of spice give some complexity to the sweet and almost sugary core. Sufficient acidity keeps the wine from being cloying. While not complex or layered, it is an exemplary after-dinner sipper, with or without cheese. GOOD VALUE "Competition / Event: 2010 Northwest Palate Magazine - 3

Award: OutstandingReview: " This publicly owned winery has made remarkable comeback, in part because of the combined efforts of consistent fruit and the winemaking of Jon Zimmerman. He turned out a delicious off-dry white that includes Chenin Blanc (17%) and features of bouquet of apricot, honey, lychee, rose water, jasmine and flannel. There’s more apricot and gorgeous tropical tones in the juicy, fat and round palate with some mouth-watering acidity and a finish of Southern-style sweet tea. The residual sugar is high (6.6%), but it’s not a distraction. Suggested food includes Mongolian beef. "Competition / Event: 2008 Wine Press Northwest - 1
